Back at the end of march my syncro was written off.(i posted at the time) Now some three months later the insurance company are still trying to value my van at £1500! Despite evidence of similar vehicles going for at least £3000 they are being intransigent. Has anyone ever seen a working syncro multivan with mot for £1500, let me know, i'll have it like a shot. More seriously any ideas how I bring them to their senses? I'm not expecting silly money but its got to be worth at least £3000

Re: insurance help
What you have to do is prove to the insurers that your vehicle is worth more than they are offering. They should be offering you the price of a replacement, less wear and tear, etc. The only way to prove that the figure should be more than they are offfering, is to produce copies of adverts showing similar vehicles for sale. There will be some on here, some online (eebay, brickwerks, Jed's website, etc), and maybe in other places. You'd be very hard pushed to by a Syncro multivan for £3000, so I'd try for a bit more than that.
This sort of question comes up regularly, so its worth searching, if only to see what others did. Good luck.

Thats what i thought, so I sent them a 1.6 Td on sorn which went for £3000 on ebay, and they came back with" its not the same" so cant compare prices. Given the number in "how many left" the chances of something exactly the same being sold is unlikely

Re: insurance help
do a completed listings search on ebay in uk and germany and america and print off the results and a print off of all the relevant ads on mobile.de, ie vw/ t3/ alle syncro and multivan syncro seperately
and point out that there's more than £1500 worth of parts on the vehicle so you'd like it back if that's their best offer, it's still your property, if they have disposed of it without your written permission then lodge a small claim for £6k and see how they react, cost you £50ish
then remember to name and shame them and the broker if they are still playing the c

You can also be given 'credit' for maintainance / service work carried out... I recently had to negotiate with the assessor when he visited my '03 passat. In fairness the car was high mileage and fairly beaten up but when I pulled out the service folder he went through the receipts and explained that he could use those to bolster the write off value and to his credit he did. NFU have always been excellent for me.
