Lesiure Battery/Wiring

Post by cab360 »

Hi there Folks,

This is my first post since joining yesterday and looking forward to being a member so here's my first question. As well as having the Lesiure battery under my seat there's more cabling under the bed. Is this for another battery by any chance? I've got an 89' Westy Hightop 1.6 diesel T
Cheers Matt :?:

Hi Matt ( you are one of a couple of Matts on here by the way, so watch out for the ensuing confustion ) and welcome to the group.

Re batteries, as far as I know it would not be likely that you would normally have a battery under the bed. Perhaps the wires were from a previous instalation of an audio power amp or summat.

However I am no expert on Westy's and some one will come along soon who will know for sure.

Take great care with wiring and batteries as a mistake can do real (expensive and/or dangerous) damage !!

It's more than likely that the cabling under the bed is for the zig unit, I'm assuming it's not there. This beastie charges the leisure battery when you plug the van into the mains.

If it's on the left in the space under the bed then that's probably what the cable is for.

Cheers pictonroad/James. I thought it might have been something to do with the batteries. Aint had much time to give it a good going over they say a mechanic neglects his own vehicle! Hadn't heard of a zig unit before. Are they worth having?
Cheers once again
Matt
