Hi Sternal -Sarran raves on about a distributor in some of his posts - I - Personally would have a read through them and see if this is the same thing.
I would be interested to know if the distributor that Sarran uses would be useful on a 1.9DF (Or DG) water cooled engine as mine runs hall effect type distributor.

The things you have to think about is the advance curve of this distributor against the original VW fit when new - I have no experience of this distributor in the link above

The reason why I mention Sarran is that he has a lot of experience with these engines and has the old story goes "You can't buy experience"
Maybe "raves" is not the right word above :) but he ho :lol:

I don't know about his distributors, but I'm always wary of them if not genuine VW. I brought an old VW one and fixed it up.

I do, however, have one of his cheap electronic ignition units in my Beetle. When I fitted it, the spark was so much stronger that I developed a missfire, because the spark was arcing over the outside of the old distributor cap! New cap sorted it.
