electric power steering
i am considering electric power steering for my van as am getting older and find it difficult to manover the van into tight spaces.there are ones advertised on ebay as reconditioned units, and there is the ultimate engineering units at twice the price has anyone fitted these and how difficult is it.the ult/eng one seems to be a more straight replacement bar the ancilleries.any advice appriciated.

Re: electric power steering
I fitted the Ultimate Engineering ePAS. Very easy to fit and totally transforms the driving experience.
Re: electric power steering
thanks for the replies nicq, aberdeenbus and thats the sort of answer i was looking h-g straight swap, was wondering how many have done the conversion and what they think off it,how long have you had it h-g. using a unit from another vehicle and cutting and welding doesnt appeal to me especially on steering

Re: electric power steering
It has now been fitted 2 years and has transformed the van. Can be done in a day.

Re: electric power steering
Mines been fitted for just over a year now. Parallel parking is a breeze now
Took about an hour to remove the column and about 4/5 hours to fit. I had the advantage of using a 4 pillar ramp, however I have a LHD Diesel, to has to do a little trimming of the heater case (you need to remove about 1 1/2 inches of the seam) and also had to relocate the cold start as it obstructs the ePas motor. Other than that, it's pretty much fit and forget.
