Rattle in front suspention near side

Post by juansetos »

Has any one experienced the death rattle in front suspension when going over a bit of rough road? Have fitted new shocks without success and have now got new lower ball joins to fit. getting expensive. l

Yes, I have it at the moment. I have just replaced a load of bushes and shocks as they were past their best but am not back on the road yet to check whether it is cured or not. Ball joints will be on the to do list soon. Can't help other than with sympathy - it is a pain determining which is the most worn component to change.

has anyone experienced the rattle in front suspension when going over rough patches in tarmac roads? Sounds as though front suspension is loose and when I hit a pot all there is quite a bang. Also when breaking there is a nock as though callapers are loose fitting.

Probably worth checking it's not a broken anti roll bar link.

Mine didn't even look broken as it was still inside the rubber bush.

Thanks for the help, finally solved the problem today, was as one of you suggested the bushes at top of suspension and play in nearside ball joint. Having the van put over a rumble plate at a local garage helped.
