Fridge converting piezo to electronic reignitor?

Post by crazydiamond »

Hi, has anyone converted an Electrolux rm122 piezo ignitor to the later rm123 re-ignitor type of lighter. I'm assuming the rm123 re-ignitor is similar to the type fitted on the 60litre fridges, in that it re-ignites automatically. Im getting a little old to keep bending down and peering under the fridge to light it and see if its still alight.

I am thinking that a re-ignitor from a different model could be adapted to fit the old rm122 I have in my Devon. It still works well after 30years of use!!

Dont know if it helps but my fridge is a Electrolux RM212F and has the electronic ignition you speak of.

Thought it might help in your search???

They are wired in pretty easily so if you do find one I can send you a picture if it helps.

You may need a donor fridge as the auto igniter relies on a switch operated off the thermo coupling (flame goes out, thermo coupling cools releasing the switch which brings on the auto ignite, once lit the thermo coupling heats up turning the switch off)

The mechanism might be the same but there are several additional parts involved in making this work correctly.

Thanks martin, I thought it might be what you say. Possible but as said a donor busted fridge would be a help. Will keep my eyes pealed for a broken caravan maybe? Anyone got one?
