Removing panel adhesive from fiberglass

Can anyone reccommend how to remove panel adhesive from fiberglass?
I have a biggish ammount stuck onto the back of the hi-top.
Is there some sort of solvent that I can apply that will soften it up, but not damage the fiberglass or top coat?
Even if it took a while to work I could soak it and tape it over the adhesive for awhile until it softened up.

I know it was an adhesive that came from Lidls and was use in a chauking gun. I think it was for general use and not "specfic" for any material. It was brown....sorry, that last bit sound like I'm grasping for straws, but I can't think of any thing else relevant.

if it was silicon based? you can get silicon eater from toolstation, you can also get solvent cleaner from toolstation this removes expanding foam from brand new bedroom carpets

Is it soft like silicone or hard?
You could try acetone - it will not harm fibreglass. Before you buy a gallon try your nail varnish remover (or nick some from your missus if you have run out ), it's the same thing, and see if it softens it. It evaporates quickly and can catch fire easily so don't have any heat sources around.
If it was silicone you can buy silicone eater @ £5.75/150ml on ebay.
Careful heat from a hair drier may well soften it enough to enable peeling it off.
You really need to identify it.

3M do an adhesive solvent safe on glass fibre
Though for the life of me I can't find it

It's not silicon, this stuff is hard as a rock.
If acetone works, where can i buy the stuff in largish quanity, or do i go to Boots and stock up on nail polish remover?

If there is no degree of flexibility in it it sounds like 'hard as nails' type - I have no idea what will shift that.
Acetone is easily available on ebay, yacht chandlers, fibreglass suppliers etc. but it doesn't seem like that will shift it from the description 'hard as rock'.
