I have a '81 2000 with some kind of vdo sensor for temp in it. when i changed the oil (3.5 l) it wasn't showing on the stick... there is another one in the van, but dont know if its the "original".... hence no way of knowing the state of play with oil level...
could anyone please measure there one (dipstick) from end of stick up to the face that seals the tube please.... and advise me?
thanks in advance...

57 cm and proud of it!
Total length from shoulder that seals on to the dipstick tube is 57 cm
Length from same to 1st mark is 53.3 cm = full
Length from same to 2nd mark is 54.5 cm = low
(All give or take a mm!)

Pics of lower tinware

These are obviously from the back - if you really need pics from the front to show where they fit onto the other bits then I'll have to get down and dirty - let me know...
