Well, I bled the system again today to double check - clear coolant coming out of bleed valve on stat housing and rad - and the rad seems to get hot all the way up. But the engine does seem to be getting hot pretty quickly - leaving it idling for 5 mins, the fan kicked in twice and it's pretty mild today.

Had a look on brickwerks and rad are 130 quid. Currently 80 quid at ECP but dunno how good they'll be.

Won't get chance to change it before my trip anyway.

Got a slight leak too at the engine end from the curved hose that goes between near number 3 cylinder and the stat housing. Will keep an eye on it.

Reading the wiki re overheating, I think the rad and fan are pretty much working as they should.

However, reading Mocki's posts about split top up hose, that may well be an issue. The header tank never seems to top itself up even if there is coolant in the top up tank. New dalek cap and hose worth a try? Cheaper than a rad.
