Is this the noisy drained tappets sound?

Post by davidm »

Hi Everyone,

This Youtube clip is not my van but mine sounds exactly the same.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z79tRCn--7I" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

There is one comment there saying its the tappets but i was looking to get confirmation. I have a 1985 petrol 1.9 dg engine. As the van has been sitting on the drive over winter I am thinking/hoping it must be that and not something more serious. It wont be taxed until July so I cant take it for a long run yet to see if it quietens down and I can get some peace of mind. Hence the post.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks, That's what I was hoping to read. It's a bit disconcerting the first time you hear that clattering!
