I have a really droopy end...

Post by max and caddy »

Just fitted a new silencer off mr B...all is well and it's exactly the same as the eperspacker one on my pickup just minus the brand name, it replaced a leistrich or summat branded one...should off been easy but broken stud in the turbo meant turbo off, gas bottles out, drill, extract...all sorted but then when I came to put the old tailpipe on it points either straight down or forwards!

Any suggestions on why I now need a new end bit? Tailpipe was bought from local motor factors a couple of years ago and fitted fine, the pick up has a JK tail pipe on and that would be fine on the van as well but my question is why is it different?

Oh.. any tailpipes are a major rip off..£25 quid for a bit of pipe and a plate..£40 in stainless!

 I have seen that before, usually when the tail pipe was bought from Euro Car Parts. Looks like you might have to cut and weld the tail pipe.

I most likely will...but will weld it bigger as its a bit small anyway. Odd how a random tailpipe fitted the much older box with no issues 2-3 years ago..maybe longer but now it's a problem!

Pleased to see the new box was a straight thru whereas the Liebfraumilch one wasn't...and my clumsy mate dropped a load of nuts into it a bit ago so it rattled ever since as well...no amount of shaking can them out either!

That bumper looks nice in blue.

I have the long back box on mine its really quiet but doesnt let through the turbo sound as much.

Yeah, body colour bumpers look a bit more passenger car and less commercial vehicle...went original on the pick up though after some deliberation.

Mine have got the early type silencer on and even with straight though ness it's very quiet...in fact it's quiet with no silencer! Odd how the old one had labyrinth of baffles inside it.

Doesn't seem to go any better for it though...maybe fuel consumption will be halved?

I had the same on when my engine conversion was done. I was going to cut and weld it but couldn't be bothered and I bought an Eber one from GSF for about £20.

Slicks? Had 4 mm on those I will have you know! Those went on within a week of getting home from S/P...blame Andy for that...actually have a nice range of tyres now ...not into sliding down hillsides backwards I found out!

this is the complete zorst i bought for the camper. as i understand its an early one but it is advertised through to 92 so i guess that it will fit? comes compleate with the tail pipe as well which you can set where ever you like.

My AAZ sounded great without a zorst but the AFN with the VNT turbo sounds like a jet fighter  I remember when Alan, Russel and I drove into a north Wales Syncro meet a couple of years ago and people were flocking round his orange Doka asking what amazing engine set up he had recently fitted because it sounded awesome. Of course Russel being Russel strung them all along with a load of waffle with the odd wink or two but what he held back is that he smashed his zorst on a rock and snapped it when we went off laneing before the meet
Everything off his orange Doka back then is now fitted to my van so I might take the zorst off and cruz in SP and be admired for my shagged zorst

I was looking at those a year ago but didn't buy due to various errors on the listings and not being sure what I would get...then Lloydy had a good used one ligging so got that instead..handy but not as pure as it could be the tailpipe design.
