Reg is burning shed loads of oil!
No leaks and puffs of smoke when I slow down.
Smell of burning oil

Wheres the best place to start and what is causing it?
Engine runs like a dream?????

Hi Stephen, the first thing to do is get a compression test done. Post the results here and someone will be along to go to the next step. If you wanted to have a check, you could look at the condition of the spark plugs. There is a set of pictures in the Haynes (and many online) that tells you "what is what" re the colour and quantity of the deposits on the plug. Engines that are burning oil have pretty mucky yucky sooty deposits on the plugs. At least being an Aircooled, it is a lot easier to rectify than on a water cooled one
