I certainly did mate, don't fancy having to go through all this ever again :ok (well not for the exhaust anyway)

Hi Gary, Guess what I have the same problem i.e. stud snapped off flush, how did "they" drill out in situ? one of these right angle drill adaptor thingies?
mines on no. 1 cylinder, drivers side front if you like. any info would be greatly appreciated, I don't want to drop the engine if possible.

hi mate, I don't think it is recommended but we did it as follows. We started by removing the heat shield to allow a bit of extra room for access. It basically gave just enough room for a small air drill. We then put a small guide mark by using a hole punch and drilled with a really fine drill bit and gradually worked our way up through the drill bits. I don't think its the best way to do it as due to a lack of space it is very hard to gauge by eye that you are drilling dead straight through the center of the bolt. Obviously you need to take extreme care because if you are slightly off to the left or right (or up and down) then you will not do it without drilling into the head. We starter off with a the mind set that the engine will probably have to come out anyway, however if the 1st fine drill bit went in perfectly straight then we will work our way up. If not then we will stop and immediately and drop the engine as there was no way we were risking going into the head. To be honest I think we were more lucky than anything.

Hope this helps mate and good luck :ok :ok :ok
