Radiator fan swap - any tips?

Hi,

Just about to swap my radiator fan as its sounding like a jet engine at both speeds and drawing 55 amps. Must have gummed up the motor with mud off-loading or the frame is knackered and whacking on the blades.
Haynes states its possible to drop rad without disconnecting hoses or loosing coolant, to get at the fan. Any tips on this? I'll be doing it on my own.

I replaced my rad on my own and used a jack to take the weight off the lower brackets so I could undo them. I ended up having to cut the heads off the bracket bolts with a grinder as the nuts were just spinning. The captive nut clip wasn’t holding the nuts properly so once off I had to spot weld new nuts onto the clips, it was a bit of a longer job than I was expecting.

You might be better just trying to take the fan cowling off and leave the rad in place as, if I remember correctly, there was 3 self tappers on each side holding the fan cowling in place so it might be possible to take off on its own.
