Quick question - how/where do you apply the Bearing Seal...? To the bearing outer shell or to the housing?

Have my bearings, the bearing seal (Loctite 641), a scaffold pole and a fat bloke.. just need my t-bar and 46mm socket to arrive and I'm ready for a weekend of fun! :-)

Hi, when inserting the bearings I applied a smear of the bearing 'fit' (its more of a liquid than a paste) to the outside of the bearing shell, and the inside of the housing.
Also, top tip when applying the bearing/high temperature grease (unless you already own a Gucci grease gun already loaded with the right grease!) is to put the grease into the corner of a (good quality....ie not Tescos etc!) plastic bag and snip off the corner, thereby making a 'cake decorating' type bag. Works really well.
Good luck

Hi,
Have you completed this build yet? and if so how did you 'set up' the rear trailing arm geometry.

thanks,

Hi
I went to ATS Tyres - they have a bang up to date system - not cheap, but......

I set the toe using a long straight edge (about 1/8" 4' forward using the inner chassis as reference) and the camber by reference to previous marks on the outer forks. Toe was almost at maximum adjustment both sides.
Seems fine but will go to ATS for checks but not for adjustment.

That is a very patient job! I just replaced a resr bearing and new backplate but in an afternoon. Can't believe how careful you've been. Its all based on personality and approach to life ....maybe whether you need to use it soon as well. Can't wait to see all that assembled.

You might want to stick the inner ballbearing in with the heaviest grade of Loctite bearing fit you can get

What dya reckon...?

How much was the galvanising if the steelers if you don't mind me asking? Do they have to be sanded and cleaned prior?
