Front window screen leak

Post by nutbox »

Hi there,
Recently I have had the front windscreen out and had a repair done to the bottom n/s corner and on refitting the window fitted a new rubber as well ,which I got from vw emporium because I heard they sold good seals.
Anyway after all the rain we had I noticed that water was still getting into the footwell :| which miffed me because I see the repair and it was all good and there wasn't any other rust around the window opening.
Anyway tonight I put a hose on it tonight started at the bottom corner and nothing happen so then I put it up the top and water came down the A post (is that right ) and down on to the wires behind the fuse box.
Now I have notice that the seal is sitting on top of some old sealant for the hightop so could this be the problem and I need to scrap it out and clean it up?
Would this be possible to do with the window and seal in situ?
All help appreciated thanks dazz :ok

Sorry I haven't got a pic of the repair but Here's a pic of the sealant and seal,as I say as soon as I put the hose at the top the water started to come in?

I think the rust on the right looks worse than it is because I put some vactan on it.

yes, its common .the top of the seal area looks original in so far as there will be imperfections and such that cause the seal not to seat correctly, if you have the good seal from chris then the seal wont be the issue as i fit these all the time. you can try mastic in along the top and side and wipe the excess of.
