Mystery switches
Hello
This is probably a daft question, but its one i don't know the answer to. I have two switches on my dash (near my right knee when sitting in the drivers seat) one orange and one black. I think one is some thing to so with the fridge (???). I have switched them both and neither seem to do any thing. Does any one know what these switches do? It's bugging me
Regards
Aaron

What Kev said. ^^^^^
Better check your fuses if they haven't worked when you tried the switches. Sometimes the relays stick on the P.E.S. (passenger ejector seat) circuit so a small squirt of WD40 in the right place sometimes fixes the problem. Other than that, take it to a VW main dealer and ask their workshop manager for advice which you should then post on here for the benefit of other members. Don't forget to make absolutely sure he understands that it is the Oil Dump switch and the P.E.S. switches.

Re: Mystery switches
Ha ha. I love this forum. Maybe I will have a go at fixing it with my glass hammer whilst drinking tea from my chocolate tea pot.
I can't believe how lucky I am to have an ejector seat - thanks guys lol.
Any one got an idea of the actual use of these switches

Re: Mystery switches
One of them could well be for the fridge. If so, it will only work if the fridge is set to run on 12 volt (see the selector switch on the fridge front panel) and the ignition is 'on'. When you then go for a run in the van, the fridge will gradually chill down. You will only know if it is working after a reasonably long run.
This is how my van fridge works, anyway. In my van, however, there is a tell tale light near the switch to let you know the circuit is live. I do not have the optional ejector seat or oil dump facility fitted to my van, so I don't have a clue what the other switch could be for. I think the ejector seat only works if there is a passenger actually sitting in it, so install the mother in law or the boss before trying it again next time.
Hope this helps.

Re: Mystery switches
You have a Holdsworth and one of them is the switch for the fridge relay, top left in this picture.

Re: Mystery switches
Generally the three position fog switch on the dash sorts them out
unless the PO did not realise it's a switch for the fronts too

is that the conventional way of wiring in the spotlights? mine are wired to a separate switch on the dash but can only be turned on when high beam is on, dosent work if lights arent on or are on dipped.

Re: Mystery switches
the rear fog switch usually has a middle position, this will supply fused power to another switch just above the fog switch
when the head lights are on the entire switch becomes live.

Re: Mystery switches
Nope my van doesn't have spot lights. I don't know what it does but in the off position it is good for hanging keys.
It's definitely a What the blithering heck switch
