Propane regulator

Our van came with a small gas bottle, and gas regulator. So, today I decided it was nearly empty and went to our local garage who sells gas. As it was a camping gas bottle (nice and small) it couldn't be swapped or anything useful so I bought a 3.9 kg propane bottle (agreement etc) I had bought a propane regulator earlier this year so thought I would be ok.
So.....take bottle to van, try to put bottle in cupboard where the old bottle came from
It does fit, with a bit of a shove
Ok, so change the regulator
It's a clip fit thing and the bottle isn't.
Drive 15 miles to nearest caravan type place, buy new regulator.
Drive home, make coffee, read packaging on regulator

THIS REGULATOR IS NOT FOR USE IN CARAVANS AND MOTOR CARAVANS

So What the blithering heck is it for? And just what have I bought

Incidentally it's a Propane Regulator Screw (that's what it says on the packaging)

And I'm assuming that is is ok to use this regulator on that bottle, but just prefer to check with those in the know

Caravan type place sells you unsuitable regulator!!! Surely they know that it is so.
Minefield trying to get the right stuff from those type of places, you wouldn't expect to have to ask that it be suitable for a van/caravan from there.

ObG does this mean I really CAN'T use it?

I'm about to take the whole blummin lot back and get a calor bottle, even if everyone says propane is better (when it's cold which seems to be forever these days)

I think that it LOOKS exactly the same as the one that everyone uses in vans - I don't know/understand why it is deemed unsuitable. I would query it with the guys whence it was brung!
By Calor I presume that you mean butane. Calor do numerous gases. Propane is best. I have butane that was in my boat when I bought it and it certainly doesn't flow in winter!

I thnk it is exactly the same, just that the instructions say it's not mind you, it also says that if you are using it outside you mustn't get rain into the tiny vent hole, but you can't cover it up either, so I'm not exactly sure just where the manufacturers think it might be used, it's Italian, not sure if that explains it
To be fair, the young lady who sold me it, did know what she was doing, she checked which cylinder I'd bought. I'm sure it is fine, just weird instruction leaflet. And yes, I meant butane, and always intended to swap to propane once it had run out.

Been on and working since April 12th and seems fine. Must just be odd instruction leaflet.
I now have a clip on propane regulator surplus to requirements

Didn't think that you could get clip on propane regulators, only butane?

Well, if I didn't bin it, it was orange and clipped on to whatever it was made for

Just had a look at fleabay - yes you can get them, I've never seen one before or a propane cylinder that needed a clip on.
