Removing Engine Paint

Post by maxstu »

Starting to prep 2.1 wbx engine and have decided to repaint engine. What's the easiest methods for removing old paint from engine block please?

Can I use nitromors. Will it affect rubber gaskets between heads and block ? Or should I use a sand blaster?

All ancillaries removed so good access around engine.

Thanks
Stuart

don't go there, if you want it shiney wait until it gets rebuilt and paint the case before assembly, it's there to propel the vehicle not look nice, most of the painted blocks look awful after a short while, they are only painted by the refurbishers to fool the customer, same with painting gearboxes and starter motors to signify they have been rebuilt, it is known in the trade as 'b u lls h it' black, what is inside is what matters

Hi Aidan,
And I appreciate your professional advice. Not really looking to give engine the all new shiny look. Just thought while out of bus to spruce it up and might aid protection etc.
Will spend my hard earned wonga as you suggest and elsewhere on the gal.
Thanks
