Water hose replacement
Hi
I am trying to source a hose for the rear left of my engine 1.9 petrol
It looks like a walking stick shape from what I can see
I can't seem to see it on the diagram on vw heratage
My setup had a bleeder on two large pipes at the top rear engine bay
If anybody has replaced them before I'd be greatfull for a bit of info
Cheers

DF or DG engine? They have different hoses.

Re: Water hose replacement
The engine also has a solid rail on the top of the engine that connects to the plastic manifold where you can bleed the system if that helps

Re: Water hose replacement
sounds like a late DG is it like this? ( this has LPG so there are some extras)
only hockey stick pipe I can think of comes from the head to the bleed rail 025121058C it's at the rear of the van but not the rear of the engine, can you be more specific?

Re: Water hose replacement
And if it has two large hoses along the left hand side of the engine it's a DF.

That picture is very small, but the hose layout makes it look like a DF engine. The engine reference number is just below the base of the oil filler pipe. Check it out. There are a lot of different fittings between the DF and DG engines so it is important to know.

Fine. It looks like Itcheyfeet has what you want. However, check your engine code for future reference when looking for parts.

Re: Water hose replacement

it seems jk and heratage doesnt stock them
Could i just use a straight pipe and a large loop or does it need to be the correct one

Re: Water hose replacement
Looks like it'd have to be one big loop. Can you spare the van, take it off, and walk it round your local half-decent old-fashioned brown-overall, greasy-formica-counter parts factor? They might have something the right diameter, with the right bend in it, that you could butcher a short bit out of.
And, when they do, remember to ask what it's for!

Re: Water hose replacement
It's not the same size hose each end so you can't use a straight pipe, it's 16mm ID one end and 25mmID the other ( I think best check yours)
you could get a piece of 25mm ID pipe and a piece of 16mm ID pipe and make/find a joiner
I have used copper preloaded solder fittings before to convert pipe sizes they have the ridge which helps the jubilee clip to seat, 22mm pipe fitting is 25mm OD and a 15mm pipe fitting is 16.5 OD so solder a few togeter with 90 deg bends and you have a home made pipe

Re: Water hose replacement
EARLY DF and DG systems had some subtle differences but were very similar. Mainly the pipe that goes to the carb and where it met the long metal pipe that crossed the engineRalf85 wrote:daysofthunder wrote:

The late DG system is totally different and what you are probably getting confused with
And the pipe part number is 025-121-058A and unavailable anywhere, even classic. It's one that hasn't ever been remade as far as I am aware.........and I've looked everywhere for early hose spares. 2nd hand is the only way to go THEN see if you can find a new one
