Distributor adjustment

Post by becandgarry23 »

Hi,

I need to adjust the timing on my 2.0l Aircooled and I can't work out how to loosen the distrubutor to turn it, i was expecting a clamp bolt under the base, only had the van a few months so still finding my my way around things, replaced the fuel tank sender unit, done the push rod tube seals and sorted the gear selection problems, all with the help of people on this forum, its been a great help being a member, any help with this final challenge would be much appreciated.

there should be a clamp under the disi with a long 10mm hex nut for loosening/tightening - the long nut is nla from VW so may be some bodge has been employed by previous mechanic/owner
I think you can get threaded hex bar in M6 which can be used to replace the original vw nut if it's missing
