Just remembered one of the first days in France got a pleasant surprise for a change when looking at possible corrosion spots on the underneath of the van with Dai, Clive and Patrick. It's turns out that my humble factory high top panel van has been keeping a secret. She's really a 16" she has the front 16 shock towers and the all the strengthening panels around the b posts and sliding door yet sporting 14" running gear. Will take some photos when I have a chance. She is origanlly Swedish and am just wondering would this be down to country spec or that she was designed for heavier loads and had the rough road package? Any Swedish van owners out there? You might want to check your front shock mounts and b posts for additional strengthening also my van has no figure for GVW stamped on the black chassis plate which maybe a give away. Let us know

Yep that's it, must be a Scandinavian country option as there's no Mcode on the white sticker from what I remember. Mine probably shares the same basic shell as the army ambulances before the Vw guys got to work with the grinders on the wheel arches So these vans are basically a hybrid a 15 ? I wonder how many were produced ?
Seen a few like that, I though it must be some strength they added back in seeing as some strength was lost without a metal roof.
What was Aidan's Old white hight top like?

I have just done a very extensive piece of research on your van and its origins Paul and yes, you have a country specific specification vehicle. It is a Scandinavian spec vehicle and there is another way to identify your spec van and that is if you look on the dashboard you will see a sticker saying that there must be no more than 2 mm difference between the front and rear tyres.
This, of course, as we all know, is total bo77ox but you cant tell that to the Scandinavians cuz they'll only get upset!

Have you got any where the triangles on the rear inner inner panels are filled in?
Yeah, it's quite common on swedish vans. Not all have it though, so it isn't a standard country spec (like the headlamp washers for example). Seems more common on late vans from what I have seen so far, but maybe theres someone on here with more info?
Mine is the same, no code on the sticker but all of the M469 bits. I'm quite sure that the code turns up on the certificates you can get from VW though. An easy tell (except the body bits) is the CV joint protectors in front and gear linkage protection. They also have the stiffer dampers. If they are original and there's any paint left on them at least the front ones should be red.
