Just some advice please -
I am currently getting new foams etc for my bed/ sofa and wondering if anyone has used vinyl for covering them and if is too hot/sweaty for sleeping on - obviously we would be in sleeping bag/sheets etc.
Cheapest foam quote I have got so far is off ebay £101 - anyone got any ideas for a cheaper place please let me know
Thanks
Frances

Re: Vinyl upholstery!!
Hi, I have just had a set of these delivered. They are good quality, you will need to like a firm bed though but the last ones I had were the same so I think they are pretty standard.
They also do a 3/4 width set for cheaper.

Re: Vinyl upholstery!!
I hate vinyl others love it. I took it off my rear seat/bed as soon as I bought my van and replaced it with cloth. The problem with vinyl is it does not breathe. So, if you have to sit on the seats on a warm day (less likely these days I guess as our weather is so crap), it becomes very sticky and uncomfortable. If you sleep on it again there is nowhere for body heat to dissipate.
So you have to cover it with something that is comfortable. I had vinyl front seats on my 1973 T2. Horrible. I bought seat covers straight away. The seats still got hot but at least we didn't stick to them.
As I say some people love it, I don't. In fact I don't get this 70s feel/look at all!

The problem we have is that it is not a standard bed (Not sure what you would call it but it is definitely not a rock and roll bed) and the foam is weird sized. It wont let me attach a pic.HT wrote:Hi, I have just had a set of these delivered. Re: Vinyl upholstery!!
I redid our bed and seats in vinyl, mostly because we have two dogs and fabric just gets damp, dirty and smelly - fairly quickly, so no choice really. Have slept on them but I've made a 'padded sheet' thing, and we use sleeping bags and IT HASN'T BEEN HOT SINCE WE GOT THE VAN
sorry for shouting there, but as it's mostly been damp, muddy, cold and sort of grey, vinyl works perfectly, but I would love the opportunity to find out if it is too hot and sweaty

I had my rock and roll bed re-upholstered in vinyl and am chuffed with the results. When we sleep on it we tend to put a duvet down and sleep on that anyway, so have not had any issues with hot vinyl. Big advantage is that it's wipe clean (and looks so much better than fabric, in my opinion).
