And a hello and welcome to you too

Don't turn the blower on again !! It is very likely a seized blower motor and the engine is slowing down as the alternator is presented with a short circuit  So one must presume there is no fuse in the blower circuit  You risk a wiring fire !!

Just shows how powerful the 1.6 motor is when an electrical short slows it down :?

The fuse on my Blower was the same fuse as on the Windscreen Wipers, so as the blower had seized up, the windscreen wipers would pack up too.
Dashboard off to replace blower motor!!!!

Or just wire the wipers via another fuse ;) (just until you feel like doing the dash out thing, usually around October  )

I wrote a WIKI article on splitting blower/wiper fuse on vehicles up to 1985
