Post by uncle monty »

Hi there!

I have a westy when I connect to leisure battery it delivers but will only stop if I manually fiddle under the electrics under the tap

How do these taps work?

Hi there
The tap has a small brass sprung loaded pin/plunger (that operates the micro-switch) that is prone to seizing. The tap needs taking apart and the small pluger cleaning and re-greasing for it to work correctly. Be very careful not to damage to tiny 'O' ring seal that seals the plunger.
Also: there is adjustment on the micro-switch bracket, this needs altering so the switch turns off with approximately 1/4 turn remaining before fully closed...if adjusted too close to the stop the motor may keep running.

Hi Martin

I got lucky; fiddled with the nut on the top and got it to stop start properly

glad i don't have to split it down

Hi there
The pin/plunger must still be moving to operate the microswitch or maybe it was adjusted too close, that's why I suggested it should be set to come on at about a quarter turn out on the tap.
