just had a weird\scary one
Been out for a drive, turning left or right the van seemed to react a few seconds later? So, as you do found a stretch of road and swerved the bus left/right. Felt awful, really wobbly. Took myself back home, found every tyre's pressure to be 0.5 to 0.75 bar! Should be 1.8 front and 2.1 rear
This was a overnight change in handling, so some clever "feck" has let my tyres down

Re: just had a weird\scary one
Dust caps missing? Odd as it actually takes a long time to let a tyre down with the valve core fitted...and results in a lot of noise if you were doing it covertly..

Re: just had a weird\scary one
It is a bit odd for sure, dust caps all on.. pumped them all back up, and just checked them again now. Dropped a little so pumped back up and will check again in the morning
the drop could have been due to the tyres being warm when pumped up the first time?..

maybe the green-lane gremlins forgetting to air-up on returning your van after a session around the dales....as you were deep in slumberville dreaming of unimogs and such like

Re: just had a weird\scary one
Or somebody weird has put nails under your tyres so when you drove off you got four slow punctures. That is just as dodgy. I hope not.

When were the pressures last done? I would forget the hot tyre thing..maybe your rims have some corrosion going on?..and you didn't notice untill today? Take wheel off and use soapy water around each bead to check for leaks.

Re: just had a weird\scary one
Pressures were checked over a year ago
so pressure loss could have been over a while. I'll check again in the morning

Re: just had a weird\scary one
Oh boy. Tyre pressures drop over a few weeks. So they should be checked regularly and always check them again before going on a long journey. Leaving them longer is seriously dodgy/dangerous!

Are you sure?
Do you mean 2.8 and 3.1?

Re: just had a weird\scary one
no, 205/16 on the badge on the a piller is 1.8-2.1
if i had 195/16 it would be 2.8-3.1
So, ok maybe i should check the pressures a bit more regular....

That's a very big difference in pressures Lloyd....?

Get your tires re-fitted .
Making sure the beads are smoothed and cleaned , fitting the tires with a bead sealant and inflated with nitrogen instead of air , the molecules of gas are thicker than air .

Re: just had a weird\scary one
The tyres all held pressure this morning so no worries on that front.
As for tyres pressures, it's what the silver sticker on the a pillar says.... I'll stick a pic up later today. It does say 205/80 re enforced @1.8-2.1bar. If anyone with a 16" can comment on their pressures. Mine have been at that pressure for 3 years now......

Re: just had a weird\scary one
sticker on pillar

but after doing a bit of reading on the IG16 forum it seems as though people are setting their pressure to around 3bar. The short of it is.. dont go over max pressure stated on tyre (44psi in my case which = 3bar) And get the measurement from hub to floor the same all round to help the VC.
So, i've gone for 3 bar at rear and 2.8 at front, this gives me hub to floor measurement of 35cm all round.
Thinking about it, what is freaking me out the most is now the van handles really well i'm starting to chuck it around a bit. Maybe a bit too much, it is a van after all. And i'm testing the limits a bit to much...... Great though when you fly into a fast tight corner, can feel the VC send the power to the front, kinda pulls you out of the corner. Memories of my ur quattro..... must drive slower................
