turbo diesel fuel pump problem jx

i think i have a problem with my diesel pump in that i cant rev it properly, it seems as if it isnt sucking the fuel up as when i use the bulb primer i can rev it. I have replaced the leak off pipes and bled the injectors i cant see anything leaking. It was ok when i bought the van but then it has been sat a while, if i prime the pump it starts first turn of the key is it looking like a pump rebuild? i havent done anything to the timing or belts any advice greatly appreciated as im hoping to take for mot on sat engine is 1.6 td jx

Check the fuel filter and drain any water that might be in it, or better still replace it then tighten up all the fuel pipes to be certain you are no drawing in air.

It has a new filter on and I replaced the clear fuel line from the filter to the pump. But it was like this before I did this. It is said it isn't drawing the fuel up
