Is the van new to you? has this white smoke developed or has it always been like that.
The only reason I ask is that these engines are PRE-CAT with a mechanical auto choke. It's easy to forget just how dirty these things are compared to the absolute seamless cold starts on modern engines.
Basically what I'm saying is: they did kick out a lot of crap on cold start. It just depends on 'How Bad' you are talking.

Warm exhaust gas laden with water vapour will condensate into visible droplets or clouds in the cold atmosphere.
Water is a byproduct of combustion.
LPG users will testify to their cold start steam, is akin to a steam train at a station
Because lpg combustion contains more water vapour.
Derv users rarely see their steam as theres little of it...just soot

Water level is fine. ...have had issues with brakes. .replaced calipers new rear every thing lost fluid a few times...master and servo bit wet may be from filling...can fluid get from master into the servo down the vac pipe into the manifold. ....? No smoke this morning but after a short test run and a 25 min rest there was a bit...before it cleared ..Engine souds good. ..Dad wrote:Condensation? How's the water level?

Re: white smoke.. help needed
OMG......if only you had said this in the first place!
The master cylinder sounds like it is leaking into the brake servo and being sucked into the engine down the brake vacuum pipe......you need a new master cylinder and lets hope the servo itself is OK as the brake fluid tends to soften the servo diaphragm.
PS: forgive me for pointing this out but this post shows how important it is to put as much information as you can IN THE FIRST POST....

Re: white smoke.. help needed
Well that was a waste of a post from me.
Would the servo diaphragm have to be punctured though Martin?

Re: white smoke.. help needed
Diagram seams to work..and the inlet for the vacum on the servo is rather high..am going to replace master and servo..is it steering out clocks out to do the job. .thanks to all with the very helpful advice. L am still very new at working out how these vans work..not like the old cars and bikes I have worked on as a youngster..it seems to be a never ending job repairing them...ps . have just checked the fluid level and it's down.no sign of any leaks.started up and there was some white smoke again . It's going to do no harm replacing the master and servo at least I will Ihave a complete new brake system thanks again ..AJkevtherev wrote:Well that was a waste of a post from me.
