Re: Synthetic Engine Oil - my experience so far - WBX
PS The first WBX that I ventured into was the DG in the '86 syncro which had a verified 100k service history. It was well looked after for the majority of that mileage, having been owned by a retirement home (I reckon they used it for skiing holidays and to use up some tax allowance!) It was only once it got into private ownership that I suspect it got rather neglected, it had 3 owners in as many years by the time it got to me.
The engine was well tired by then, I gave it a freshen up with a new cam and a re-ring but didn't do the bottom end, to my shame. It's now pushing my mate's t/s tintop 2wd daily around. Still going strong and returning good mileage.

I have nothing to add Adrian ... if you wish I will leave it for YOU to help the nice people with your extensive knowledge of T25s ? One thing I would advise though is that neither you OR Neil make threats to me ... at all.

Search me mate, that seems to come out of nowhere. All a bit unnecessary and I can't see or perceive any threat, implied or otherwise.

Oil type always get the fiercest discussions going on here. It is good to see that Aidan and Steve from Brickwerks, the most knowledgeable guys on this topic, are taking the discussion forward. We may all soon be on fully synthetic oil at this rate. Thank you guys. Overall though the message must be whatever oil you choose, change it very regularly to keep that wbx running sweet.

I still don't get it. Aidan started a factual report about using a particular engine oil and it turns into...I don't know what.
Engine oil FFS! We're not trying to cure world poverty or clean the oceans of modern man's detritus. Maybe certain parties should be doing something more constructive?

Was going to say, Neither Aidan or Steve are anything to do with Brickwerks.
However, both are very well regarded on this forum.

Not sure which, if any, have a synthetic component?

Re: Synthetic Engine Oil - my experience so far - WBX
Rather depends on the state of the engine. If it's got documented Saturn V mileage then you might want to think twice. I'd say that anything that's done over 100k is going to be past it's best. Engines that have had oil coolers fitted (as distinct from the factory interwarmer) from very low miles/full rebuild will be a different story, but they are few and far between.

In light of a 'shift in the force' small changes have been made to the oil entry on the WIKI.
