2.1 DJ Oil Buzzer

Post by chrisevans »

My Westy has got an issue when hot. The buzzer/light come on at low revs. Could someone explain how this system works please? I have bought a sensor from ECP http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volks ... 373&000519. I was going to swap the switch but not sure if its the right one. This is a 1.8 bar switch I believe.

I'd get a Brickwerks switch, email them and they will tell you what switch you need, Brickwerks will only see you good quality parts don't cut corners on something so important.

Can also be a bad connection or broken /corroded wire, the switch goes open circuit with low oil preessure so a bad connection is the same.

I have tested oil pressure. It's 60 psi when cold and idling and approximately 60 psi when half warm at 2000 revs. Also the buzzer went off whilst the gauge showed 40psi so does this point to a pcb or wiring error?

i'd say so, try reaplcing the wire from the switch to the loom in the engine bay and changing the crimps, also check the muliplug to the dash is not furry, a Brickwerks swith is also highly reccomended over a cheapo
