Martha Facelift
HI all I have been a member of the excellent club 8090 for nearly 4 years and has been a great source of help and inspiation over that time . I am a 38 year old married with 2 boys campervan loving engineer with a 1990 1.6td(JX) leisuredrive converted van , but now the time has come to sort out a few seams and a couple of window surrounds then paint using the roller DVD as inspiration.

Re: Martha Facelift
Bear with me if I add this in bits and bobs but just aded a epic summary and then all the phots went wrong !!!!! so had to start again
anyway the first few photos show the kitchen coming out to check the rust behind the fridge and get to the back of the seams.

Kitchen out.

a bit of surface rust wire brushed with drill ,vantac and then hammerite for good measure.

Re: Martha Facelift
All seamed to be fairly solid much to my releif
so I refited some new silver foil insulation and then the old rockwool over the top. I then refitted the surround sorted a bit of routing for wires etc and redid the gas pipes. refitted the kitched minus the fridge which spent the next 48 hrs unsidedown as I understand this does them good

Re: Martha Facelift
Then I set about the seams I took them out with a twisted wire brush on the drill, wire brushed onn the drill again vactaned hammerited and sanded ready for Roller painting

Re: Martha Facelift
Looking good. How many coats of rustoleum did you do?
I'm just on 3rd coat and wondering if that's enough.

Hi, that's the first coat but will do three. I think the blue seemed to go on and cover better than the white.I'll flat and second coat this weekend (last coat was last weekend ) it goes on well I was a bit apprehensive but now really pleased I've gone for it.

Re: Martha Facelift
Did you do that outside on a windless day???
Nice, no, very nice looking, in the pics. Does it come up to your expectations in the flesh??

I did do it outside. I started very early 7 ish and it was very good weather. The blue is great , the white will be when it has a couple more layers on. The rollering went better than expected, very pleased and you get the nack as you go . I tried a test panel before setting about the van. left it to harden and have bought a nice sealy polisher. I polished the test panel back and thats fab, so I feel confident the van will flat and polish nicely when the time comes

Re: Martha Facelift
That's what I needed to hear, not that I am going to be attempting mine any time soon. Just good to know.
Cheers
