Ignition Coil Differences

Post by shirelets »

1986 DG engine with TCI H electronic ignition. Spark from king lead more yellow than blue and may be cause of occasional problems, so want to try another coil. Mine is original green label VW part 211 905 115D. Ordered second hand replacement, but has suffix B not D which looking at JK and Heritage info seems to be off vehicles up to 1994. Primary and secondary resistance I've measured similar on both B & D suffix. Does anyone know what is the difference and whether I can use the B suffix without causing damage to the amplifier module? Thanks in anticipation!

Yes the B is the earlier type, the difference is the HT lead fitting, the latter one uses the pin type.
