Any tips or tricks/solutions welcome
Okay it's a Westy with the pull out table.
The problem is the Sqeaking whilst driving with it folded away, I do tighten both knobs in place.
My current fix is a cusion wedged between cupboard below and table on top.
Silicon spray along the table edge where it rubs against the trim.
Furniture polish (which has added wax) may work but wouldn't last as long.....the idea is to make the contact 'slippy' smooth.
When I used to work Mercedes we would get through half a tin of silicon spray on each service, going around the door/boot & tailgate rubbers...gets rid of all the rattles and panel squeeks.
Also great on gliss (or similar) curtain rails.
Hey, I had a similar problem with my Westie table, and it would come loose as well as squeak. I'd tighten the knobs so hard that they almost ripped the skin off my hands, but they still slowly loosened. When I looked closely, it seemed that the pointed end of the knob screws just weren't tightening properly onto the tubes of the table. Is this making sense? Anyways, I unscrewed each knob and put in a little nylon bead, then screwed the knob back in. Then, when I tighten the knob, it deforms the bead and grips the tube better. The bead isn't actually destroyed, so it lasts for ages.
Trouble is, I can't for the life of me remember where I got the beads! Try anything like that, like a little disc of plastic, see how it goes! Sounds daft, but it worked for me.
