Gear shifting prob

Post by LEESYMES976 »

Hi,

I can't quite seem to get my gears to shift smoothly, the problem seems to be at the gearstick end. I've replaced all of the bushes etc which did help the shifting. But from what I can see the gearstick seems to bang against the box that bolts to the chassis. This happens in neutral when shifting between the gears. I've adjusted the lever etc according to the haynes manual but just can't seem to get it right. Any advice would be awesome,

Cheers Lee

The gearshift has plastic bellows and a plastic cap at the bottom which to a large extent takes the clout out of lateral movement. We need pics I think.

Whilst for a 5 speed, these two pages give a good breakdown on what is what:

I would vouch for the great write up there.

Completely redone my system in the last weeks. Absolute perfect and a great write up.

the only thing to be warned about is is the seal on the shift lever shaft. They have a lip on them which on mine bronke in the correposnding lip in the gbox housing - hence the new seal wont go in.

if anyone knows how to clear out the debris of the old seal in this very small lip, please help!!!!

I am currently driving without this seal in!!!!
