As you can see from the picture there are quite a few short pieces of hose jointing breathers etc ...these just rot and fuel then leaks.
It's worth adding that unfortunately it's not just those hoses that rot. The two permanent metal breathers also corrode through and the flat tank design also make it a crap trap which can also result in the top of the tank resembling your aunt Maud's fishnet stockings.

I hope it's as simple as a metre of hose from Brickwerks......
