Fridge install using flexible piping

Post by burnzdog »

Hi all,

Just installing a 3 way fridge with copper. Seems award with copper. Has anyone used a better, more flexible piping method? is rubber piping a good idea? if not anyone know of other flexible piping that can be used?

Thanks

Matt

Personally I have fitted a cooker in my boat with flexible rubber hose as copper would fracture as it moves an inch or so with vibrations and pounding into waves. In a van things are held a lot more rigidly if installed correctly so copper is the recommended connection. (Except for the bottle to copper pipe) Our gas hose needs replacing every few years which is difficult when buried in the depths of a van and fridge.
I have never understood why there isn't a more permanent flexible option available - in the home gas cookers have a flexible hose that has no expiry date!

Huh, your lucky, we 'have' to have our installation checked and certified every 5 years and both the regulator and the hose have dates stamped on them (it is a bottle installation and not mains gas though).

Yes that's what I think is strange - they dont advise using rubber pipe yet the mains is a rubber pipe?!?!
