Btw that's Volkswagen emporium said they are out of stock on rear rubbers, anyone know where I can get an original rubber seal fom?

well i get fed up with these sales lot portraying stuff as VW when its clearly pattern, some stuff is acceptable as pattern/copy whatever but i get sick of them when they imply original with weasle words,
dont bother warming it ,it will make no difference, return it, firms will get sick of paying haulage bothways as theis bottom line in life is profit out of you. they are all alike.
as for status forget them .pm me if you want the tale of lies ref seals as i had a good rant a short while back

Excuse the terrible paint! its temporary primer!! So if anyone can point me to a place that sells guaranteed OEM rear window rubbers I would really appreciate it otherwise I think my window might fall out!

If the windscreen opening is geometrically as it was from new, it'll definately go in single handed. Basically you lay screen and rubber in the orafice, using a rubber mallet on the rubber if need be to assist it into place, then with pressure from outside, pull string and use mallet and pressure from outside to push it home. It should go in easy peasy. Did mine entirely on my own. If it isn't going in, the rubber is unlikely to be genuine.

I did it single handed by alternating from inside to outside, working around until it was in.

As for VW Emporium being out of stock - better to wait until they get another delivery as theirs are tops in my book.

Looks like a good quality seal by the video. Have you lubed the opening? Even water helps. If its going in dry, the ribs may stick a bit making it harder to get it in fully. Chances are a tap with a rubber mallet may sort it.

yeah it was super lubed, soapy water in a spray bottle. repeatedly, we had it half in then took it out 3 times, this was the best we could do, ive done probably 5 beetle screens and windows and never had this trouble, this is the first t25 though.

My mate suggested some silicone spray? will this effect the rubber in anyway? or the paint for that matter?

Yeah the seal definitely didn't look cheap,pretty supple, It just wouldn't go in!

just had seal fitted to rear from vwemporium ,previous from jk simply wouldnt go in
window fitter charged 20 quid took him 15 mins and went straight in ,no probs in case anyone interested on technique he used...
Rubber on
Plenty of lube
Fairley big string more like thin rope
Loops top bottom left and right ,,sides in first then bottom by gently tapping rubber into place then pulling on well placed suction cup from inside whilst pulling string at same time
made it look easy( ill be keeping his number just incase front doesnt go according to plan)

Not really. Rubber mallet on screen rubber is best bet as it should knock it fully home without even going near the glass. Blimey, you can get rubber mallets in pound shops these days. Don't be so quick to rubbish the seal before trying that - there may be nothing wrong with it.

yeah I got a rubber mallet in my bag right now, I don't think I was that quick to rubbish the seal as I literally spent 3 hours trying to get it in, and that was the best I could do, my mate is an engineer and im a product designer, I know that don't mean much these days but were not total idiots, well not totally. I got nothing against brickwerks as ive ordered tons of stuff from them and always been happy, I guess I just feel let down and pissed off.

That corner has had 2 blokes banging on it like anything, I will give the mallet a go but .........

You kinda need to work round methodically rather than in just the spots that seem out of kilter. Try that. You need at least some pressure on glass as you do it.

yes thats the ones he used , know what you mean about poor rubbers , last window bloke spent 1 hour 20 mins bashed hell out of it with mallet to the point i had to look away and was still unable to get a proper fit in addition he cut nearly all finns off inner rubber and still no joy,but jk rubbers have been panned to f@#@ on here so wasn't surprised ...
seemed like good idea to buy full set when embarked on journey to camper heaven !!

as i think i posted recently ,the last front on sunnivagon i fitted and strung . i went to make a brew and returned to asdkl my mate (glass fitter) how mant sugars and he weas creasing him self/ 40 seconds or thereabouts and it was in
