No 1.9DG petrol engines!

Post by Allys »

Does anyone know where we can get a 1.9DG engine for our 1985 petrol VW camper? Have just been told by our garage that vw heritage have a 3 month back order! Any help gratefully received, can't cope a summer without it!

Thanks

Elite 'recon' or pre-used from a reputable breaker NOT the greedy Cheesy variety

Another option (possibly) is http://www.volkspares.co.uk/air-cooled/engines-engines

I never had a prob with their Aircooled ones and they do the DG too.

There was a time (and no idea if that would really apply to a watercooled lump) when you could drive down there just before they opened, leave a bug with them and drive off later that day with a newly built engine. That said, you can only drink tea in so many cafes in Sydenham so you have to plan the day a bit and also have a contingency plan in case it takes more time than that. Last time I did it, I spent the day exploring forgotten buildings in London. They were very good (so I hear) if you had subsequent issues or engine needed any fettling but all the ones I bought were great.

Marco Mansi or you could try TES engines (not a recommendation) or get a good S/h one off Billy 739 on here.

Marco Mansi did mine over a year ago now and it’s been the best thing I've done for the van. I did two weeks round Wales and been to Scotland twice just getting back from the Isle of Skye on Monday as well as many other trips. I’ve put about ten thousand miles on it without any problems.
