Daft Question Number 4 - Air intakes on Air-Cooled

Post by Thorgills »

Does the front grille on an Air Cooled serve any purpose; i.e. would it cause any problems if it was partly covered?

Might as well pop in D.Q. Nr 5 as well - if not, is there structure behind the grille panel that could tie one end of a turnbuckle to???

Many thanks oh Guru's!

The vent that lets fresh air into the side & foot vents is behind the grill. The only thing behind the grill is the heater ducting and the vent assembly.

The air intake for the fresh air ventilation is behind the grill. Some of it can be covered

Haven't got a clue what the second bit means. Try it in English.

Looking at engineering a bracket mounted off the bumber to support a spare wheel a la Bay Window spare wheel arrangement - however worried it may 'flap' under braking so wondered if you could put a tie back from the bracket through the grille to something solid to give more substance... Although looking at the pic ahead it looks fairly hollow!!

You can bracket off the crash bar just below the grill.
