Re: carb rubber gasket
Between the inlet manifold and carb there should be a gasket...half an inch thick

Re: carb rubber gasket
I think he means the thin round gasket between the top of the carb and the inlet trunking about 100mm in diameter and about 4 mm wide.

Re: carb rubber gasket
If I remember rightly, you can get an equivalent by searching for 'O' rings on either ebay or the Net in general. I seem to recall many places that do them in every conceivable size. They're not much - postage will probably be more.

Re: carb rubber gasket
O ring is a great idea but stock O rings that size are hard to come by , usually you get it by the length then cut and join it to the right diameter.
An old water pump o ring is slightly larger than you need so it you have one, a sharp blade and some superglue should do the trick
origional gasket is 92mm ID 102mm OD and 2mm thick

Re: carb rubber gasket
Hi,
I have just read this thread. I need the rubber spacer type gasket that sits between the head and the carb manifolds-around 5mm thick. Apparnetly the paper type gaskets sit over the spacers? VW heritage/JK don't stock them. I was told thta this would effect cold start-which ist did this am, the carbs are back on with new gaskets, and minus the spacer gasket...

Hi,
I've discovered that the gasket is likely made up of phenolic rubber, and Ebay sells sheet of it-different thickness that are cheap and cheerful, so will go down the hand ade route!
