Re: any ideas re CU engine issue..
I could've done that, but not confident enough to strip it down and change gaskets. VW heritage, JK say the part is no longer produced!
Re: any ideas re CU engine issue..
I have tried VW Heritage and JK, no one stocks them, they say its not produced anymore..

Obsolete is a word that will come up a lot
Thats why VW shows are so popular.
Second hand then...
Unless someone here finds a supplier.
Best of luck

Thanks, hopefully it will run ok, albeit a little less happy on a cold start until I find some.

You could make your own
But I guess the garage wouldn't like that

Hi, Thanks Sarran, it is what I am after! After a bit of reading, it appears that the rubber version is made of phenolic. So I will purchase a square of this from Ebay for under a fiver and cut some out

Re: any ideas re CU engine issue..
still waiting to get the 'alternative spacer on', and now engine won't idle, having 1st run fine after new gaskets fitted, had around two weeks of almost no 'coughing or kangarooing'..am stumped..

Re: any ideas re CU engine issue..
Any chance of a few pictures of the engine bay? If your van had Solex cards I'd say the rubber tee that connects to the brake servo had split or come off. Where does the brake servo hose connect to the Weber carbs?
2ltr Aircooled CU with twin Solex's & originally a 009 dizzie, but now back to standard.
Re: any ideas re CU engine issue..
Hiya, will get pics up tom, from emory the brake servo feeds into pipe work into the old metal pipes that were under the old air box/carbs..all has been undisturbed and fine, the only thing is yesterday I kerbed the van whilst oving on a corner, quirte hard, and bounced off the kerb, 2 ins later it needed high revs to keep going, and went I put y foot down, it kind of ups revs, then hits a flat spot before picking up again. I drove it hoe keeping the revs up, it diled a little while when hoe then died. Starts fine, and I checked air filtesr were on ok after the bump..still not idling, so just happened suddenly.. the brake servo pice was changed a few years ago, it already had that issue..
Re: any ideas re CU engine issue..
* excuse the typo's , I have a dodgy 'm' key..
Re: any ideas re CU engine issue..
That said, I will check the servo pipe tom for splits, though the garage checked all the hoses the other week..
