J-Bars

Post by marcawalker »

Hi, i know this has been asked before but im going away in a few weeks and ive been looking on ebay and google to find either a roofrack for my surfboard. no luck and im getting desperate. I came across what someone had as j-bars and these would be perfect. any ideas where to buy them from? ive tried all the shops round by me and i emailed the guy who used to make them but he doesnt do it anymore.

any ideas of what i can do?

Methinks there's been a misunderstanding ..... 'J' bars meaning 'J' -shaped bars, NOT meaning an abbreviation for Jail Bars.

hehehe,Ian.

Yes, its the J-bars i want that you bolt on to the side of your van. I think will end up making some of my own as nowehre seems to sell them now.

These bolt to standard roof racks - or are you after the type that bolt straight on to the side of a hightop?

Anything's possible!
Might need to weld/bolt on a peice that would sit against+bolt thro the hightop and another that would bolt/clamp onto the gutter.

Thats what i think i will do. Do you know if i can buy the braket that fixes to the guttering of the van. if i could get the clamps i can easily make something from that.
