Hello hello!

Yep, fed up with spending money on a T5 that never felt quite right, much better spending money on something a bit more deserving! Kate really likes it too, which is rare for me buying a retro vehicle - the previous land rovers were not hits... :)

Give us a bell next time you're around, will be good to catch up, otherwise hopefully see you at one of the events. Got my T-shirt in the post too btw, ta muchly, saving it for a suitable occasion :)

Yep, loving the sound of it, plenty of poke, resisting the urge to calculate mpg's :)

Always far better on a long run, what with two diffs to warm up etc. If you're in the 20's it's a good sign, mid-20's is quite common from good healthy engines. DJ's work well on LPG but that's a whole other bunfight

PS Make sure you get a fresh warranty on any engine re-work! What kind of mileage has it done since the re-con and by whom? Having said that most of the warranties out there are laughably short...

PPS Just noticed that your steering wheel's on the correct side too :ok

It's done just under 8k since the re-con by the vw engine co - they offer 12 month unlimited mileage, but it's 18-ish months since they did the work. Will double check warranty on the new work, good idea, thanks for the heads up :)

Yep, was holding out for a RHD so that the sliding door was on the (correct) passenger side - all on-street parking round where we live, so wanted passengers/kids to jump out onto the pavement rather than into the main road!

12 months unlimited actually translates as: "We don't expect these engines to do more that 5k a year - just like your limited mileage insurance policy - in some old happy campervan that spends half of the year laid up. By then you'll be out of warranty. Byeee!"

A full re-con should be good for 20k of daily merciless thrashing at the very least. IMHO*

Ha! :)

Does explain why I prefer insuring campervans over every other vehicle I've had though, relatively(!) painless...

"The van's in really good nick - but your sills are rubbish!" - My MOT man does not mince words. Booked into CoastVW in June for another round of credit card battering, as they've gone too near the suspension to pass the MOT :( Should be good for a while* after this lot though!

(*bloomin hope so at any rate!)
