Westy Roof Rails/Rack Mounts

Post by JonnyAtlantic »

I have just bought a Sherpas Translift system for my Westy PopTop.

Can anyone give me some ideas on where to fit the short runner parts onto the roof?

I have done an internet search and a looked around the wiki and the forum but can't seem to find a definitive answer. Some pictures show the rails qiute inboard of the roof.

The brochure seems to show them very close to the edge which I think is how Westfalia would have fitted them.

I have the bits of rail and also the Sherpas manual downloaded. It has a sketch of the rails bolted through what looks like the rail the bellows is attached to under the roof. The length of the bolts on the rails are about right for that too and also have a flat on the washers attached, which would sit against the bellows by the looks of it.

Anybody got them fitted in this position? Are they bolted through the bellows rail?

Any help greatly appreciated. There must be someone out there with these sherpas rails fitted on their pop top.

Cheers.
Jonny.
