Hi all,
Ever since i got the van it has smelt slight of exhaust gasses. I just usually have the window down!
when i was doing work under the van I noticed both heater control boxes have been wired open, and also that many bits didnt fit very well. I currently have the rear piece of tinware out and carbs off for some work. so access to the elbows and control pods is easy. i seem to have to LH control pods!! I also have just removed the alternator to replace the belt to find the pipe from the blower to the heat exchanger (the metal one) has holes in it.
So to get the system working its gonna be new control box, two new cables and this pipe that i cannot find anyway, it it possible to weld it up? useexhaust sealent?
Is it worth getting new cables etc etc or so most people just run with it wired open?
Lastly the bottom slider on the heater control panel what does it do?
top is direction of hot air?
middle is the control for the control boxes
bottom for fresh(cold) air?
Cheers
Ben

Re: 2l CU heating system.
I think the bottom slider opens the vent between the headlights, behind the "radiatior" grill. It definitely lets fresh air in. If I were you I'd fix the heat exchangers first. If you replace & repair all the pipework first you'll just end up pumping more CO into the cab. I'll be warmer though!
