Its not causing a problem..its just it would be better to use a matched inlet to the engine.
Its fine with the 1.6 though
the word 'pissing' is safe

I had the same problem.Gone from 1.6td to 1.9 y from a seat.I was told that because i was using turbo silencer it was causing the problem.I bought a 1.6td silencer and 1 3/4" 2x 90 degree bends and 1x u bend, which made no difference.I went to the breakers and got a cylinder air filter box from a turbo diesel espace (old square shape)and plumbed it in and hey presto sounds great.Purrs like a kitten.Going to put 2" exhaust pipe and silencer back on as the van had a bit more poke with it on.
