Can anyone advise on the best course of action for this lower section that holds the rubber in place.
The rest is not too bad but this part has rotten through. The sill itself etc is fine. I looked on schofields but couldn't find the specific part. I imagined there would be a metre odd U section that could just be drilled out and replaced but not having any luck.
there is a section, (and get those girly gloves off unless its your sort of thing)
cut the old bugger off and clean it good, dont add weldthrough for this, then drill 6.5mm holes in the new and wind the mig and gas up and puddleweld straight in there,

they are ok , but for the cost and hassle its easier to fit the whole lower front, their ones are good as well, im doing that now, the jk one is a bit taller and shaped to cover the orifice on the w/cooled, but they are very thin and i would never fit one now.

No idea on quality I just need to fit one sometime myself and noticed they sell it for when I get round to it. Post up the price of the schofields part when you get it for comparison.
I'm missing the front 8 inches of the channel. When I got my van only the rubber seal was holding that bit of channel to the rest of the van but it has since dropped off. I'm just treating it as extra ventilation for now as when I do get the welder out it will be for more serious bits than this.
i have just done this repair on mine using the part from schofields but i did use weld thro and i had problems until metalmick8y pointed me in the right direction i think the repair piece is around £26.50

Can I ask what kind of problems? do you mean weld through primer?
i had problems with the welds holding so i removed it and give it a going over with a flap disc to remove the weld thro primer and this time it worked better

Ah ok cherrs, can I ask did you get just the u channel or the whole part inc bit above it? Doesnt seem much difference in price
if the sill part is good and cleans up shiny then just fit the channel, you onlky have one go in eaqch hole you made and the weldthru pi**es it off so leave it and as soon as your done dose it
