Heater fan question?? (who's changed one)

Search function isn't working....

So...
Just changing the heater fan.. got it apart and there is a baffle in front of the matrix... covers nigh on half of the core.. seems a bit daft. anyone seen this before?? has a VW stamp on it, but no part number...

Do they all have this baffle?
Maybe mine has it because it has a factory fitted webasto heater (heats coolant).

Leave it in?
Take it out???

You mean this bit.
It's to make more air go over the hottest part of the matrix.
