Hello all, I have a T25 1.9 and have just been out on our first drive of the year. half way along my journey the speedo stopped reading and it also stopped adding to the mileage. Any advice would be appreciated, as I have limited knowledge and I am having difficulty understanding the Haynes manual.
Thanks Paul

Re: Speedo
Easiest check is if the cable is connected at the back of the speedo. Pull the instrument cluster cover off (just lift it from the long edge nearest the windscreen). You'll see at once if the cable is disconnected. And if that doesn't help someone more expert will be along shortly!

Re: Speedo
Or the cable develops an extra groove in it at the wheel end (other than one for circlip) and it spins inside the square hole and/or the square hole is now virtually round. If either of those are the cause you either need a new cap (and probably cable) or to save a few quid medium term, you can sometimes add a small washer to help pull the cable through further and past the groove. An old worn cap can sometimes be reworked with use of a cold chisel on the inside to help close the hole again. I small file will true up the edges.

Re: Speedo
Yes...so possibilities are:
Circlip on the end of the cable N/S/F has come off and cable isn't being driven.
Cable end (which should be square) has rounded.
The square drive hole in the N/S/F grease cap has 'rounded' off.
The inner drive cable has snapped in half somewhere.
The push on connector (late) or threaded connector (early) has come off at the speedo head.
The speed head is faulty and broken internally.
