Hi all,
I have a 2.0 Aircooled engine that I feel needs more poke, after chatting to guys on here I have decided against replacing the engine and settled for tuning it properly to get the best out of it. I have read up on after market carbs and it seems that webbers or delortos (apologies for spelling) are the ones to go for. What are your opinions and do you know anywhere I can get them fitted for a reasonable price, or would it be better to buy them and have a mechanic closer fit them?
Any help or advice welcome, cheers

Re: New Carbs
Hi there, same engine with twin solex carbs. Almost spent £500 + sorting new carbs then last attempt took the van to Andy @ Campershack (Grantham) for a tune-up! A vast improvement at a fraction of the price.
Can't comment on other set-ups but I for one will be staying original until the magic hands of Andy can fiddle with my carbs no more!!
Just read that last bit and its not as dodgy as it sounds!

Re: New Carbs
Dellorto 36 or 40 mm drla is the way forward. Anything else is a poor substitute.
It gives you one carb per cylinder allowing precise tuning , increased bhp and mpg.

Hello,
Before spending loads on dellortos..
go from this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qayyc9Z4E0
to this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsfo5ATgBp0
Materials .. about 80€ including new bushes on carbs.
Just by setting up the engine correctly....
Valve timing...Ignition timing... carburation...
And a top end overhaul...
Maybe a visit to a specialist.. Cost you a bit to come here,, but you're welcome
Cordialement,
